1. | Draw a circle. Draw the horizontal and vertical centerlines. | |
2. | Construct the inscribed dodecagon (regular 12-sided polygon) of circle 1, pointing to the right. | |
3. | Construct the inscribed circle of dodecagon 2. | |
4. | Construct the inscribed square of circle 3, pointing to the right. | |
5. | Construct the inscribed hexagon (regular 6-sided polygon) of circle 3, pointing to the right. | |
6. | Construct the inscribed nonagon (regular 9-sided polygon) of circle 3, pointing to the right. | |
7. | Call the top of square 4: A, its righthand angular point: B, the lower righthand angular point of hexagon 5: C, and the leftmost upper angular point of nonagon 6: D. Draw two connecting lines, between A and D, and between C and D. | |
8. | Construct a circle centered at C, passing through the lower righthand intersections of hexagon 5 and nonagon 6. | |
9. | Copy circle 8 to the center of circle 1. | |
10. | Copy circle 8 three times, to A, B, and D. | |
11. | Construct four lines, parallel to the sides of, and inside quadrangle ABCD, tangent to circles 8 and 10, as shown. | |
12. | Construct a circle centered at A, passing through the intersection of the upper righthand side of square 4 and the upper lefthand side of nonagon 6. | |
13. | Copy circle 12 three times, to B, C, and D. | |
14. | Construct four lines, similar to lines 11, but tangent to circles 12 and 13. | |
15. | Construct a circle centered at A, passing through the intersection of the upper righthand side of square 4 and the upper side of hexagon 5. | |
16. | Copy circle 15 to the center of circle 1. | |
17. | Construct a circle centered at A, tangent to circle 1 at the upper side. | |
18. | Copy circle 17 to the righthand intersection of circle 16 and the horizontal centerline. | |
19. | Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to circle 18 at the lefthand side. | |
20. | Circles 1, 9, 16, and 19, square 4, hexagon 6, and lines 7, 11, and 14, are used for the final reconstruction. | |
21. | Remove all parts not visible within the formation itself. | |
22. | Colour all areas corresponding to standing... | |
23. | ...or to flattened crop, and finish the reconstruction of the 2018 Gurston Ashes formation. | |
24. | The final result, matched with two aerial images. |
