Reconstruction of the
2022 Etchilhampton Hill formation

1. Draw a circle. Draw and extend the horizontal and vertical centerlines.

2. Construct the inscribed regular 16-sided polygon of circle 1, pointing up. Draw the sixteen rays, from the center to the angular points. Number these rays as well as the angular points, clockwise, 1 - 16, starting at the top.

3. Draw the connecting line between angular points 2 nrs. 4 and 6.

4. Construct a circle centered at the intersection of ray 2 nr. 5 and line 3, passing through angular point 2 nr. 4.

5. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to circle 4 at the lefthand side.

6. Draw the connecting line between angular points 2 nrs. 3 and 10.

7. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, passing through the intersection of line 6 and the horizontal centerline.

8. Copy circle 7 to the center of circle 4.

9. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to circle 8 at the lefthand side.

10. Draw the connecting line between angular points 2 nrs. 3 and 7.

11. Construct a circle centered at the intersection of line 10 and the horizontal centerline, tangent to circle 8 at the lefthand side.

12. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to circle 11 at the righthand side.

13. Construct a circle centered at the lefthand intersection and passing through the righthand intersection of circle 11 and the horizontal centerline.

14. Copy circle 13 nine times, to the righthand intersection of circle 1 and the horizontal centerline, and to the intersections of circle 5 and rays 2 nrs. 2, 3, 4, 5, 13, 14, 15, and 16.

15. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to the rightmost circle 14 at the righthand side.

16. Draw four connecting lines, between the intersections of circle 9 and rays 2 nrs. 1 and 7, and nrs. 1 and 11, and from angular points 2 nrs. 2 and 16 to the intersections of circle 9 and rays 2 nrs. 11 and 7 respectively, as shown.

17. Draw the connecting line between the intersections of circle 7 and inner (lower) lines 16. Extend this line upto circle 9 in both directions, as shown.

18. Construct a circle concentric to the leftmost circle 14, tangent to line 17.

19. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to circle 18 at the righthand side.

20. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to circle 18 at the lefthand side.

21. Draw two connecting lines, from the intersection of circle 19 and ray 2 nr. 1 to the intersections of circle 9 and rays 2 nrs. 7 and 11.

22. Copy circle 13 to the intersection of line 17 and ray 2 nr. 9.

23. Construct a (horizontal) line parallel to line 17, tangent to circle 22 at the lower side, and extending to circle 9 in both directions.

24. Draw two connecting lines, from the intersection of circle 9 and ray 2 nr. 9, to its intersections with line 23.

25. Construct a circle concentric to circle 22, passing through the center of circle 1.

26. Draw the connecting line between angular points 2 nrs. 6 and 12.

27. Construct a circle centered at the intersection of ray 2 nr. 9 and line 26, tangent to circle 7 at the lower side.

28. Draw the connecting line between the intersections of circles 19 and 27.

29. Copy circle 27 to the intersection of ray 2 nr. 9 and line 28.

30. Construct a circle centered at the intersection of circle 7 and ray 2 nr. 9, tangent to circle 29 at the upper side.

31. Draw the connecting line between the intersections of circles 7 and 30.

32. Copy circle 30 to the intersection of ray 2 nr. 9 and line 31.

33. Draw the connecting line between the intersection of circle 12 and ray 2 nr. 9 and angular point 2 nr. 10.

34. Copy circle 13 to the intersection of circle 12 and ray 2 nr. 9.

35. Construct a circle centered at the lower intersection of circle 34 and ray 2 nr. 9, tangent to line 33, and move this circle (copy and delete original) to angular point 2 nr. 10.

36. Construct a line from the lower intersection of circle 34 and ray 2 nr. 9, tangent to circle 35 at the lower side.

37. Copy circle 13 to the lower intersection of circle 34 and ray 2 nr. 9.

38. Construct a circle centered at the lower intersection of circle 37 and ray 2 nr. 9, tangent to line 33, and move this circle to the center of circle 35.

39. Construct a line from the lower intersection of circle 37 and ray 2 nr. 9, tangent to circle 38 at the lower side.

40. Copy circle 13 to the lower intersection of circle 37 and ray 2 nr. 9.

41. Construct a circle centered at the lower intersection of circle 40 and ray 2 nr. 9, tangent to line 33, and move this circle to the center of circle 35.

42. Construct a line from the lower intersection of circle 40 and ray 2 nr. 9, tangent to circle 41 at the lower side.

43. Copy circle 13 to the lower intersection of circle 40 and ray 2 nr. 9.

44. Construct a circle centered at the lower intersection of circle 43 and ray 2 nr. 9, tangent to line 33, and move this circle to the center of circle 35.

45. Construct a line from the lower intersection of circle 43 and ray 2 nr. 9, tangent to circle 44 at the lower side.

46. Copy circles 35, 38, 41, and 44, to angular point 2 nr. 8.

47. Copy lines 33, 36, 39, 42, and 45, while mirroring with respect to ray 2, nr. 9, as shown.

48. Draw the connecting line between angular points 2 nrs. 8 and 15.

49. Copy circle 13 three times, to the intersections of circle 9 and the outer (upper) lines 16, as shown.

50. Copy circle 13 to the intersection of the inner (lower) lines 16, as shown.

51. Construct four lines parallel to lines 16 at the outer and inner sides, tangent to circles 49 and 50 at the corresponding sides, as shown.

52. Remove from circles 1 and 12, and lines 6, 33, 36, 39, 42, 45, 47, and 48, all redundant parts...

53. ...such, that this pattern remains.

54. Copy pattern 53 seven times, with respect to angular points 2 nrs. 1, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, and 15, as shown.

55. Remove from circles 5, 14, 19, and 20, and lines 17, and 51, all redundant parts...

56. ...such, that this pattern remains.

57. Remove from rays 2, and lines 16, and 21, all redundant parts...

58. ...such, that this pattern remains.

59. Remove from circles 25, 29, and 32, and lines 23, 24, and 51, all redundant parts...

60. ...such, that this pattern remains.

61. Circle 15, and patterns 53, 54, 56, 58, and 60, together, make up the final reconstruction.

62. Colour all areas corresponding to standing...

63. ...or to flattened crop, and finish the reconstruction of the 2022 Etchilhampton Hill formation.

64. The final result, matched with the aerial image.
