Reconstruction of the
2023 Potterne Hill formation

1. Draw a circle. Draw and extend the horizontal and vertical centerlines.

2. Construct the inscribed regular 18-sided polygon of circle 1, pointing to the right.
Number the angular points 1 - 18, counterclockwise, starting at the rightmost one.

3. Construct a circle centered at angular point 2 nr. 1, passing through angular point nr. 2.

4. Construct a circle centered at angular point nr. 2, passing through the center of circle 3.

5. Construct a circle centered at angular point nr. 18, passing through the center of circle 3.

6. Construct a circle centered at the righthand intersection of circles 3 and 4, passing through the center of circle 3.

7. Construct a circle centered at the righthand intersection of circles 3 and 5, passing through the center of circle 3.

8. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to circle 3 at the lefthand side.

9. Construct the inscribed nonagon (regular 9-sided polygon) of circle 8, pointing to the left.

10. Construct a circle concentric to circle 3, tangent to the righthand side of nonagon 9.

11. Copy circle 10 to the center of circle 4.

12. Copy circle 10 to the center of circle 5.

13. Copy circle 10 to the center of circle 6.

14. Copy circle 10 to the center of circle 7.

15. Construct a circle concentric to circle 4, tangent to circle 10 at the near side.

16. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to circle 15 at the lefthand side.

17. Draw a line between the center of circle 1 and the righthand intersection of circles 3 and 4, and extend this line upto the righthand side of circle 13.

18. Draw a line between the center of circle 4 and the righthand intersection of circles 7 and 11, and extend this line upto the righthand side of circle 14.

19. Construct a circle centered at the intersection of line 18 and circle 13, tangent to circle 11 at the near side.

20. Copy circle 19, while mirroring it with respect to line 17.

21. Copy circle 19, while mirroring it with respect to the horizontal centerline.

22. Draw a line between the center of circle 6 and the righthand intersection of circles 14 and 21, and extend this line upto the lower righthand side of circle 19.

23. Construct a circle centered at the lower righthand intersection of line 22 and circle 19, tangent to circle 13 at the near side.

24. Copy circle 23, while mirroring it with respect to the horizontal centerline.

25. Remove all redundant parts from circles 1, 3, 4, 5, 7, 10, 11, 12, 14, 19, and 20, such that...

26. ...this pattern remains.

27. Remove all redundant parts from circles 6, 7, 11, 12, 13, 14, 19, 21, 23, and 24, such that...

28. ...this pattern remains.

29. Repeat all necessary steps to copy and rotate patterns 26, and 28, together, seventeen times, with respect to the other angular points of polygon 2.

30. Circle 16, and patterns 26, 28, and 29, together, make up the final reconstruction.

31. Colour all areas corresponding to standing...

32. ...or to flattened crop, and finish the reconstruction of the 2023 Potterne Hill formation.

33. The final result, matched with the aerial image.
