Reconstruction of the 2014 Macmillan Way formation | ||
1.
Draw a circle. Draw and extend the horizontal and vertical centerlines.
2.
Construct the inscribed decagon (regular 10-sided polygon) of circle 1, pointing up.
3.
Construct the inscribed circle of decagon 2.
4.
Construct the inscribed decagon of circle 1, pointing to the right.
5.
Call the righthand intersection of decagons 2 and 4, just below the horizontal centerline point A. Point B is its diametrical opposite. Draw the centerline of circle 1 passing through point A (and B).
6.
Construct a circle centered at the lefthand intersection of circle 3 and the horizontal centerline, passing through the lefthand angular point of decagon 2 above the horizontal centerline.
7.
Copy circle 6 twenty-one times in total and number the circles, the first (nr. 1) to the lefthand intersection of circle 1 and line 5, the next ten (nrs. 2 - 11) to the upper intersection of nr. 1 and circle 1, and consecutively to the corresponding intersections, nr. 12 to the lower intersection of nr. 1 and circle 1, and finally the last nine (nrs. 13 - 21) consecutively to the corresponding intersections, as shown.
8.
Construct a circle centered at the righthand intersection of circle 6 and the horizontal centerline, passing through the righthand intersection of circle 6 and circle 7 nr. 1.
9.
Copy circle 8 to the center of circle 1, and move this circle (copy and delete original) to its lefthand intersection with the horizontal centerline.
10.
Copy circle 8 to the lefthand intersection of circles 7 nrs. 11 and 21.
11.
Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to circle 10 at the lefthand side.
12.
Copy circle 11 to point A.
13.
Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to circle 12 at the righthand side.
14.
Construct a line from point A tangent to circle 9 at the upper side, and extend this line to the right upto circle 13.
15.
Construct a "two-points" circle (defined by the two end-points of a centerline) between the lower intersection of circle 7 nr. 10 and the upper intersection of circle 7 nr. 21 with circle 1.
16.
Copy circle 15 to the intersection of circle 13 and line 14.
17.
Construct a "two-points" circle between the righthand intersections of circles 1 and 3 with the horizontal centerline.
18.
Copy circle 17 two times, to point A and to the center of circle 16.
19.
Construct two parallel lines, tangent to circles 18 at both sides.
20.
Construct a circle centered at the righthand intersection of circle 3 and the horizontal centerline, tangent to circle 1 at the righthand side.
21.
Copy circle 20 to the righthand intersection of circle 11 and the horizontal centerline.
22.
Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to circle 21 at the lefthand side.
23.
Circles 1, 3, 7, 9, 11, 16 and 22, and lines 19, are used for the final reconstruction.
24.
Remove all parts not visible within the formation itself.
25.
Colour all areas corresponding to standing...
26.
...or to flattened crop, and finish the reconstruction of the 2014 Macmillan Way formation.
