Reconstruction of the
2023 Barton Stacey Belt formation |
1. |
| Draw a circle. Draw the horizontal and vertical centerlines.
2. |
| Construct the inscribed hexagon (regular 6-sided polygon) of circle 1, pointing up.
3. |
| Construct the inscribed circle of hexagon 2.
4. |
| Construct the inscribed hexagon of circle 3, pointing up.
5. |
| Copy circle 3 to the upper righthand angular point of hexagon 4.
6. |
| Copy circle 3 to the upper lefthand angular point of hexagon 4.
7. |
| Copy circle 3 to the lower angular point of hexagon 4.
8. |
| Construct a circle tangent to the upper lefthand and righthand sides of hexagon 2, and tangent to circle 5.
9. |
| Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, passing through the center of circle 8.
10. |
| Construct a circle concentric to circle 5, passing through the upper righthand intersection of hexagon 2 and circle 9.
11. |
| Copy circle 10 two times, to the centers of circles 6 and 7.
12. |
| Construct a circle centered at the top of hexagon 4, tangent to the upper sides of hexagon 2.
13. |
| Construct the inscribed hexagon of circle 12, pointing up.
14. |
| Construct the inscribed circle of hexagon 13.
15. |
| Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to circle 14 at the lower side.
16. |
| Construct the inscribed hexagon of circle 15, pointing up.
17. |
| Construct a circle centered at the lower angular point of hexagon 16, passing through its upper righthand angular point.
18. |
| Draw the connecting line between the center of circle 1 and the upper intersection of circle 17 and the vertical centerline. Divide this line into six equal parts.
19. |
| Construct a (very small) circle centered at the upper intersection of circle 8 and the vertical centerline, tangent to the upper righthand side of hexagon 2.
20. |
| Copy circle 19 five times, to the upper intersection of circle 17 and the vertical centerline, and to the upper four division nodes 18.
21. |
| Construct five pairs of circles concentric to circle 17, tangent to circles 20 at both sides.
22. |
| Copy circle 19 to the center of circle 1, and move this circle (copy and delete original) to its own upper intersection with the vertical centerline. See detail.
23. |
| Construct a circle concentric to circle 7, tangent to circle 22 at the upper side.
24. |
| Repeat all necessary steps to copy and rotate circles 20 and 23, together, two times, with respect to the upper lefthand and righthand angular points of hexagon 16.
25. |
| Circles 1, 3, 5, 6, 7, 9, 10, 11, 15, 21, 23, and 24, are used for the final reconstruction.
26. |
| Remove all parts not visible within the formation itself.
27. |
| Colour all areas corresponding to standing...
28. |
| ...or to flattened crop, and finish the reconstruction of the 2023 Barton Stacey Belt formation.
