GATEWAY TO WESSEX

Ever since the late eighties the small village of Avebury, and its surrounding area, covering a 5 mile radius, has been what we can only describe as the "Homeland" for the Crop Circles. The year of 1988, was the start of a dramatic increase in formations, which have graced the fields surrounding the worlds largest, standing stone circle.

This area in particular, will be our focus in providing a general information pack for anyone who is interested in travelling to Wiltshire in the summertime, in order to experience the crop circles first hand. You will also witness the stunning countryside, that graces this mystical part of England, which is based in the heart of the crop circle world. The historical towns of Salisbury and Oxford are only 30-40 minute drive from Avebury, making it an ideal place to stay to roam the surrounding area.

Both Mark and myself hope you will find the Travelogue inspiring and informative for your stay in England. We shall be promoting the very best accommodation in the Avebury area, and also provide a brief introduction to the history of the site. This is why we are able to experience the phenomenon within this wonderful countryside. Many people believe that its of no coincidence that the phenomenon appears very close to Ancient Sites, as the Avebury area has an abundance of heritage, which will provide a picturesque and mystical backdrop for the crop circles.
