Comments Regarding 2009 National Geographic TV
Crop Circle Show (being shot by Zig-Zag Productions) by Nancy Talbott BLT Research Team Inc. Tom Barry, a British filmmaker working for Zig-Zag Productions, called me in May, 2009, asking about the possibility of my participation in a new crop circle film he had been assigned to produce for National Geographic TV. Mr. Barry was apparently unaware that National Geographic TV has aired several crop circle pieces in the past and that I—representing the BLT Research Team--had been involved in one that aired in 2005. He seemed uninformed regarding the circle phenomenon generally, and apparently did not know that I had been both sincerely surprised by the overtly biased treatment accorded the scientific research conducted and published by members of the BLT Team in the '05 National Geographic TV crop circle show (www.bltresearch.com). I told Mr. Barry that I felt that both the phenomenon and our work had been inordinately misrepresented and, therefore, asked him if he could provide me with assurance that his proposed effort would be a fair and unbiased presentation? Specifically, I asked him if he could provide me with a "final cut" of his film prior to its being aired—along with the written assurance that I would have the right to withdraw all parts of my interview and any graphic materials provided by me or BLT if I felt the final product was either willfully skewed or disrespectful of the BLT work or, in particular, the scientists involved. I did not hear from Mr. Barry for several weeks, during which time I did hear from multiple other crop circle enthusiasts, who expressed their concerns regarding the content of this new show. I did finally receive an email from Mr. Barry telling me that he no longer plans to shoot here in the U.S. and will film only in the UK. He also suggested he would pay all of my expenses to come to the UK--but he did not respond to my questions about fair representation. Given Nat.Geo's past "coverage" of the circle phenomenon, this omission seems to be a very clear red flag. Then on June 24th Mr. Barry called to tell me that the executives at Nat. Geo. had refused to provide a written statement that the new film would provide an unbiased approach to the phenomenon or the BLT work, but that he was moving ahead anyway. Because of Nat. Geo's previous superficial, flippant presentations—and because I have no way of knowing that this new production will be either respectful or accurate—I decided not to participate. If any readers are concerned (as I am) that this new project may again present a biased portrayal of the phenomenon you may want to express your concerns (before the film is presented publicly) to the Executive Producer at Zig-Zag Productions or to Mr. Sydney Suissa, the Executive VP in charge of Content at Nat. Zig-Zag Productions Many people within the crop circle community may have been approached by Tom Barry of Zig-Zag Productions, an independent production company that has been commissioned on behalf of the National Geographic channel " to make a one hour documentary about Crop Circles, which we hope to film this summer in the UK and abroad. It’s part of a series where we examine other well known mysteries or phenomena, such as the Lost City of Atlantis, Bermuda Triangle - to name just a few - with the emphasis on possible scientific explanations behind them." After originally approaching me regarding my scientific findings, on being questioned, Tom Barry then told me that the programme might have a broader remit! Since then I have repeatedly asked Tom Barry for written assurances that no crop circles will be commissioned, or hoaxers interviewed and that indeed the programme will be science and only science based. The man made aspect is not part of the genuine phenomenon. To date I have received no such written or even verbal assurances. Tom Barry tells me that they are due to start filming in about two weeks time and many of you may be considering participating. However I have decided not to take part as I do not consider the programme will in any way advance either the genuine crop circle phenomenon or my work. Crop Circles in Jones County Texas-Late March 2009
I (and my son) witnessed crop circles in a field in Jones County, Texas
on Friday, March 27 at 1:33 pm (CDT). I took five pictures, but as the
angle was low, the phenomenon is not clear. I have since looked for any
report or other photos of this, but have found none. Google Earth has
outdated photos of the area. Do you know of any websites that update
their satellite pictures or are real time?

UFO incident reported on the front page of UK's biggest selling newspaper. (Thursday 8th January 2009). Here is the Sun's web page on the incident.
The latest news is that the broken off blade has been found on the
wind farm site.
Nick Pope (UK UFO expert) says in the Sun "This could be one of most
significant UFO incidents for years. If something collided with the
wind turbine, as seems certain, there may be residue on the damaged
parts that could help solve this mystery. In the last two months
there have been two near collisions between UFO's and police
helicopters, and now this."

A wonderful new Crop Circle Research centre opens its doors.
The new Silent Circle crop circle centre was opened Sunday 27th April in an annex next to the White Horse Inn, in the beautiful village of Compton Bassett, Wiltshire. It was well attended by many crop circle researchers and enthusiasts including Francine Blake and Stuart Dike and many more. The sunny day meant many people could sit in the wonderful beer garden, which is directly outside the centre. Children and adults played the French game of Boules which is set up in the garden.
The centre has a wide range of information facilities and a large stock of pertinent books, DVDs magazines, photography, fine crafts, crystals, gifts and a lot more besides.
There are computers operating for anyone to use and a Wi-Fi facility. There are also maps on the walls of the area, with stickers to show people the location of this seasons crop circles. There are already many speaking events to be held at the centre this summer. At least eight speakers are already booked. There will also be field trips and night watching organized by Charles Mallet. All in all this should mean that the Silent Circle will be the social hub for most of the visitors to the Wiltshire crop circles this summer.

What has happened to the National Geographical? In the spring of 2007 I was approached by North One Television to
appear in a programme they were producing on behalf of the National
Geographic called `I Didn’t Know That`. One of the subjects to be
investigated was crop circles. I made careful enquiries as to the
content of this programme and their approach to the subject. I was told
they were interested in the scientific aspect and the work I had

Dear Mark, I'm Tania from Belgium. I found a photo of my boyfriend on
the site from July 2002. His name was Paul Jennis. I don't know that he
was a member. I know that we look at the latest crop circles every time
we were together and that he had a lot of information and books so I
think he was a member. It was a passion of him that I shared. I don't
know that he had contacts or friends on the site but if so , I would
like to let them know that Pol (Paul) has died last October 2005 after a
Job accident. Everyone who would like to contact me about Paul and was
close to him, is free to mail me. In memory of him, and my love to him,

The Season Ends for the Circle Chasers. The season finally comes to an end for the Circle Chasers video team as they complete the filming below the ancient Uffington White Horse. The 2005 season turned out to be a very exciting one and was a joy to film. We now turn to the editing of ‘Circle Chasers 2005’ which we hope to complete as soon as possible in order to have the new DVD completed by December. Jaime Maussan presented a short lecture at the Crop Circle Conference 2005 hosted by the Crop Circle Study Group with the assistance of Crop Circle Connector and material from their site. Jaime Maussan flew from Mexico specifically to visit the Wayland Smithy formation because of its Mayan connection. With Crop Circle Connector, he was researching this circle when he was astounded to hear of a new event that had occurred overnight in a neighbouring field below Uffington Castle which also had Mayan connections. He also visited Silbury Hill which he considered had similarities with Mayan and Aztec civilisations. |

Feature writer Andrew Yates telephoned me on Thursday evening, 14 July 2005 to ask if the pictures of crop circles that I had submitted to the Daily Mail were all in the south of England. I asked him to include a short piece in his editorial about my long standing research in to the effects of electromagnetic fields in living systems; for example changes in both brain activity, hormone levels and protein levels on seeds that were to be found in genuine crop circles. He refused, saying it was only going to be a very short piece. I then asked him to tell me what had been written and he replied just a couple of paragraphs saying that these formations were to be found in the fields in Southern England. At no time did he tell me that he had written that crop circles were `now known to be intricate works of human art designed using computer technology`. On reflection, I can now see why did not reveal what he had written and why he refused to include my work on electromagnet fields on living systems as it would have been in direct conflict with his editorial. Also I would like to point out that the images were not taken from 2005 only, half of them were from the late summer of 2004 and all this information was clearly displayed on the back of each print. I have had very many happy years of association with the Daily Mail working with people of integrity who researched their subject correctly instead of making bald statements for which they have no evidence and which in consequence unfortunately mislead both the public and their readership.

PRODUCTION REPORT; BOREHAM WOOD, NR LOCKERIDGE, WILTSHIRE On this humid night, in front of the large trees of West Woods we filmed this curious formation. A slight departure to what has gone before it, as this shape appears to have some ancient quality to its overall design. As we entered the formation, we immediately noticed something extremely odd! The entire outer section of the crop had been shredded, as if the farmer had come in and defaced just this part of the design. However this unusual episode became even more bizarre, as the inner design to the formation had been left totally intact. Even the four petal shapes around the perimeter had been completely untouched. Whoever had come in and cut the already downed crop had clearly enough respect for the entire design. This kind of event is extremely rare. In my 15 years of research I have only encountered this twice, and this was the second time! It reminded me of the galaxy formation along the Avebury Avenue in 1994, which had its entire internal detail cut out, leaving the overall outline intact. Whatever was around the outer part to this odd design, wasn't around for long. We can only think of two scenarios for this eccentric act. Firstly, the farmer may have come into the formation, and wanted to spoil the design for the researchers and general public. However nobody from the road could tell if the formation had been defaced, as the entire shape could still be clearly visible. So it would defeat any object to keep people away. Secondly, whatever information was available within the outer edge of the pattern was so sensitive that it had to be removed very quickly. Conspiracies can rise from such a notion, very much like what happened in 1994 at the Avebury Avenue. Once again we can only speculate on what really took place and for what reasons? The filming was a great success, as the warm light created excellent opportunities for dramatic shots. We only spent around one and one half hours at the site as the light was fading. However that was enough time to take pole shots, carry out a little presenting and film some atmospheric shots across the formation. |

UNCONVENTIONAL SHAPE ON SECOND DAY OF PRODUCTION MILK HILL, NR STANTON ST BERNARD, WILTSHIRE 29th May 2005 Our second location found us at a very controversial shape, which appeared some weeks after the first event on the 1st of May. Both designs couldn't have been more contrasting, which meant that we had to show a level of caution towards this event. However it didn't actually stop us from covering the event in our normal way. We did experience some rather lengthily and frustrating lighting problems due to the weather conditions. Sunshine and cloud can often cause delays with the shooting of the production. We sometime take hours to cover just one formation. Our shots from the air were very successful. |

A CARPET OF YELLOW ON FIRST DAY OF PRODUCTION. GOLDEN BALL HILL, WILTSHIRE 1st May 2005 We were suddenly thrown into an early new crop circle season in Wiltshire this year, which filled us with great excitement and anticipation. What isn't surprising was the choice of crop for the first formation. Oil Seed Rape is really the only crop that can be used as a canvas at this time of year. However its flowers create the most photogenic crop of the entire summer, due to its radiant bright yellow colour. The weather was kind to us on this day, as the ground was dry. We were unable to enter the formation on the ground, due to our respect towards this Farmer and our responsibility with regard to our readership. Last year, this particular Farmer wasn't happy about having a formation on this land, and he actually called the police. Well this was also the case in 2005, as other people found to their cost. We believe no arrests were made. It really is quite an exercise to set out for the day shooting formations from the air and ground. Our biggest obstacle is the weather, as we quickly have to gauge whether we fly first, either in the morning, or wait until the evening. On this particular weekend, there had been thunderstorms the day before, so we were unsure about the weather. As we were unable to enter the formation, all of the Presenting work took place from both sides of the valley, including the top of Golden Ball Hill, (as you can see from the images on the left). For the 2005 production, we create different ways to capture the atmosphere of the season, as this is vitally important to understand what its like to follow this enigmatic phenomenon as it appears. So we experiment with different shots of the formation within the landscape, because its not always about what has formed within the field, but also its location, and its possible connection to historical sites in the area. This is one of our goals within the production of Circle chasers 2005. Its important that each location we film retains its own characteristics to keep it fresh and inventive. |

1998 saw a proliferation of magnificent crop formations. Perhaps the most significant event from that year was the arrival of a huge and extremely complex seven-fold design at Tawnsmead Copse, Nr Alton Barns, Wiltshire. What makes this event even more perplexing is the fact that the glyph was seen arriving at the scene under extremely bizarre circumstances. Multiple light anomalies were observed which culminated in the actual 400’ft Patten emerging under a full moon in front of the witnesses. |
